A practical method
A resource record
A resource record with audience, original source, rights questions, accessibility notes and an inclusion decision. Work through the prompts in your own notes. No information is submitted or saved here.
Reader task
Write the specific question the item helps answer, intended audience, prerequisite and limits. Leave promotional adjectives out of the record.
Original and rights
Record creator, original URL or custodian, edition, date, licence and whether linking or redistribution is allowed. Do not copy by default.
Evidence and accessibility
Check cited sources, scope, reading format, language and assistive access. Label an untested field as unknown.
Decision and caveat
State include, hold or reject with a reason. If included, explain any age, geography or expertise limit beside the link.
Maintenance and exit
Assign last check, next check, correction contact and a trigger to remove or replace the item when it changes or disappears.
Record the outcome
- What is the proposed next step, and who owns it?
- What evidence supports it, and what remains unknown?
- What would make you pause or change direction?
- When will the decision be reviewed?
Keep private details in your own records. This is a reading guide, not a submission form.
